Thanks for the Archives
I have been a subscriber to California Fly Fisher, probably since it started being published. I have most of the issues starting from that time, but didn’t want to dig around for the issue I was looking for, so I was so happy to see that I could pull it from the website archives.
I wanted to thank you for archiving the past issues of the magazine because I was looking for the article by my good friend, Jon Baiocchi, titled “Skwala Primer for 2021: Lessons Learned.”
I was able to find the complete article, which was very informative. I’m going to be on the Yuba with my Confluence guide Ben Thompson and am looking forward to a day fishing Skwalas in both subsurface and dries.
I am so impressed with the quality of the new California Fly Fisher and appreciate all the effort that goes into providing this fabulous source of information.
You guys do a great job, and I thank you for all your efforts.

Countless Connections Through Fly Fishing
I am deeply humbled and grateful for the beautiful piece written by Dagur in the winter edition. I have received messages, emails, and phone calls from old and new friends who were not only delighted to read the article but also to enjoy the magazine.
I am truly amazed by the countless connections fostered through the shared experience of fly fishing. California Fly Fisher as a publication has given us a comfortable space to commune.
Thank you for including me.

RESPONSES TO “A NEW ERA FOR TED FAY FLY SHOP” BLOG:
Pay It Forward
I have always and will continue to stop at Ted Fay Fly Shop, regardless of fly fishing or not, to pick up flies for future use. When I have fished the McCloud or the Upper Sac, Ted Fay Fly Shop has always been my first stop. Even 20 years ago, when there were far fewer women angling, this shop always treated me with interest and respect each time I came in. If you’re driving through on the I-5 to parts beyond, stop by, buy some flies or anything. …Pay it forward to keep history alive.

Greeted With A Smile
I stopped by Ted Fay Fly Shop for the first time a month ago on my way to Horse Creek on the Klamath. I arrived just as they opened and was greeted by Jessica with a big smile. I told her it was my first time stopping in, and I was looking for some tips on fishing the Sacramento that morning before continuing up to the Klamath. She told me that she and her partner Corey had just purchased the shop from Bob, who was staying on to help them transition. Bob walked in a minute later shared a good option for catching some fish that early would be. He told me the fish kept “bankers’ hours 11-4”, but I proceeded to fish under the Highway 5 bridge below the Chevron station. Lots of pocket water, had minimal success, but enjoyed learning some new water and making some new friends. I will always stop in to support a fabulous fly shop like Ted Fay’s on all my future travels up that way. Wishing Jessica and Corey much success.
