FAQs

Where is my magazine?

California Fly Fisher is a quarterly publication with Summer (July), Fall (October), Winter (January), and Spring (April) issues. Easy issue mails the first week of the month. Subscription orders are processed immediately when placed online and within two days of receipt if by mail. If you subscribe after the current issue has been shipped from the printer you will have the option of adding additional postage to receive that issue. Otherwise, your subscription will start with the upcoming issue. (For example, if you subscribe on August 1, 2024 and do not pay additional postage to receive the Summer 2024 issue, your subscription will start with the Fall issue and will be received around October 10, 2024.)

If you do not receive your first print issue when expected, please email subs@calflyfisher.com and we’ll look into it right away.

As a paid subscriber to the print magazine, you have access to all digital content – the current issue as well as all the archived issues of the magazine we currently have online. More archived issues will be added in the coming months. Soon you’ll be able to recycle the stack of magazines you’ve been keeping in your garage!

To gain access to your digital account follow these easy steps:

  • In the upper right-hand menu, click Register.
  • In the Account Lookup box, enter your Account ID (the 8-digit number above your name on your magazine’s mailing label) and your zip code (5 digits only). Click Submit. (If your Account ID is 7 digits, add a 0 as the first digit.)

If you’re having trouble logging into your account follow these steps.

  1. Take a deep breath and relax. We’ve got you and are here to help.
  2. First let’s make sure you’re registered. Click on the Register link below the Subscribe button on the top right of the website.
  3. Enter the subscription number from your magazine label (the new magazine, not the old tabloid format) and your zipcode and click submit. Don’t have a magazine? If you’re a recent subscriber and haven’t received your first issue yet, you can find your account ID/subscription number on your subscription confirmation email. If you were a subscriber to the former magazine, please email us at subs@calflyfisher.com to get your new account ID.
  4. Now enter your email and password and click submit. If you already have a login with that email it will prompt you that the email already exists. Click on the Please log in here link at the bottom of the form. If you don’t get that prompt, then you now have your email and password to access the site and can login.
  5. If you’ve established that you are registered by completing step 4 and receiving the notice that your email exists and your email and password are not successful, then click the lost password link on the Log In page.

Richard, the founder and editor/publisher of California Fly Fisher for 31 years, stepped away from the magazine in October 2023. Shortly after, Publisher Tracey Diaz, with Editor-at-Large George Revel by her side, decided to revive and refresh the magazine and bring it into the digital space. The premiere relaunch Summer 2024 issue is somewhat of a tribute to Richard’s legacy and a recognition of the dedicated community of fly fishers he built.
