Austin is a fourth-generation Sierra angler. He first learned how to fish from his grandpa at the age of four. His grandfather, Richard, was an avid fly angler who bought his first fly rod at the age of 17. He paid $75 for the rod, a Heddon Black Beauty, which Austin now cherishes to this day. Austin continues to carry on the tradition, working with his brother, Miles, at Trout Creek Outfitters in Truckee, California.
