Fish the West Films has launched a new documentary series, Fish the West with Guy Jeans, which premiered August 17 exclusively at FishTheWestFilms.com.
Created by Emmy Award–winning filmmakers Devan Homis and Chandler Jenkins, in partnership with renowned California guide Guy Jeans, Fish the West captures the people, places, and stories that define fly fishing across the American West. Each episode highlights legendary guides and unique fisheries, spanning rivers, lakes, streams, and coastal waters.

Unlike traditional productions backed by corporate sponsorships, Fish the West is a self-funded, independent series. To remain authentic and community-driven, the team uses a Pay What It’s Worth model, allowing viewers to watch for free and support the show with contributions or merchandise purchases.
“Every episode is made possible by our viewers,” said host Guy Jeans. “We want this series to belong to the fly fishing community — not advertisers. That’s why we release episodes on our website first, so fans can support the show directly and help us keep telling these stories.”
The series premiere episode featured Ryan Williams of North Valley Fly Fishing, showcasing Williams’ groundbreaking stillwater bass techniques on Lake Oroville. A bonus “Meet the Host” prequel episode with Guy Jeans also launched on premiere day. New episodes will be released monthly.

Future episodes will feature notable figures such as George Revel (Lost Coast Outfitters), Pat Jaeger, Dagur Gudmundsson, Vaughn Podmore, and Glenn Ueda — a lineup that underscores California’s central role in the culture and innovation of Western fly fishing.
California Fly Fisher is proud to partner with Fish the West Films in sharing these stories. “So many of the anglers featured in the first season are California-based, including our own editor-at-large George Revel,” said Tracey Diaz, publisher of California Fly Fisher. “This series shines a light on the creativity and community that make California a hub for fly fishing, and we’re thrilled to help bring it to viewers across the West and beyond.”
