A Casting for Recovery volunteer guide shares the importance of finding beauty in small things.
Dr. Joel (Jody) Martin is Associate Vice President for Research and Curator of Crustacea at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County. A recipient of the 2021 Robert Traver Fly-Fishing Writing Award from the John D. Voelker Foundation and the American Museum of Fly Fishing, he writes for a number of fly fishing magazines. He is also a Certified Casting Instructor through Fly Fishers International and Casting Director for the Southwest Council of FFI. A member of Sierra Pacific Fly Fishers, Jody lives in Thousand Oaks, California, with his wife, Julie, and loves fishing the eastern Sierra whenever possible. This is his second article for California Fly Fisher.
